Artist Statement / 2014

The relationship with my subjects goes beyond esthetic inclinations, reflections upon popular
cultures or intertextualities. My work seeks to operate as tributes, not to these discrete
entities, but to a specific instance of transformative process that challenge perception and
memory; that looks to reorganize and pair what can be significantly meticulous emotions of self
referential humor. I work to deconstruct their traditional aura, mediate their authority and
power exploring a pliant nature that highlights their human condition. In a dual experience,
these subjects that were once familiar destroy themselves becoming monstrously unfamiliar
exceeding as individuals of pure event.
